Also known as legal assistant, is a person qualified through education, training or work experience to perform substantial legal work, that requires knowledge of legal concepts and is customarily, but not exclusively, performed by a lawyer, law office, governmental agency or other entity, or
may be authorized by administrative, statutory or court authority to perform this work.
Independent Paralegals assist people who are representing themselves.
They ARE NOT attorneys and ARE NOT supervised by them.
They DO NOT give any advice of a legal nature unless specifically authorized to do so by law or statute.
Independant Paralegal performs, under supervision, direction and accountability
of the client, specific tasks, including but not limited to, offering access to materials, legal forms, self-help books, providing procedural assistance and typing for a fee.
